At 51st Assembly, CESE elects new board and runs advocacy activity in the Quingoma Quilombo

CESE held its annual Assembly between 10 and 12 June, which is traditionally held in this month with the board and executive team convening and typically visiting a community experiencing serious human rights violations. On the morning of Tuesday (June 11), the group visited the Quingoma Quilombo, located in Lauro de Freitas, in Salvador’s Metropolitan Region.

CESE’s 51st Assembly also involved the election of the new Board and Oversight Committee for the 2024-2027 three-year period. The new President will be Rev. Anita Sue Wright Torres from the IPU.

The new Board is composed as follows: Vice-President Pastor Renato Küntzer (IECLB); Mrs. Gilvaneide José dos Santos (ABB) was elected as First Secretary; Father Marcus Barbosa Guimarães (ICAR) as Second Secretary; Bishop João Câncio Peixoto Filho (IEAB) as First Treasurer; and Rev. Eleni Rodrigues Mender Rangel (IPI) as Second Treasurer.”
