Kaxinawa Association of Nova Olinda provides emergency aid for indigenous people affected by the floods in Acre

The Kaxinawa Association of Rubber Tappers, Producers and Artisans of Nova Olinda (ASPAKNO) received emergency aid from the Ecumenical Coordination of Service (CESE) to mitigate the effects of the floods in Acre on indigenous populations in six communities affected by the flooding of the Envira River. The initiative, part of the Small Projects Programme, was a response to the floods, which had a significant impact on daily life in the area.

The emergency aid included the distribution of basic food baskets to affected families and the purchase of tools so farming could continue in the villages of Nova Olinda, Formoso, Porto Alegre, Novo Segredo, Boa Vista and Yube Beru Mukaya. The families were able to rebuild their agricultural production and ensure they had enough food to eat.
