Black Women’s Association of Acre receives emergency aid for women affected by floods

The Association of Black Women of Acre and its supporters have received emergency aid from the Ecumenical Coordination of Service (CESE) to mitigate the effects of the Acre floods on the lives of black women. The Small Projects Programme initiative came about in response to the impact the floods had on the dignity of women in several municipalities.

All Acre’s municipalities have, to some extent, been hit by the floods, leading the state government to declare a state of public calamity. River flooding and waterlogging are recurring problems in the state. According to Civil Defence data, this environmental disaster is already the biggest in Acre’s history, leaving more than 100,000 people homeless or displaced.
